Sanchez loving life as Arsenal striker

Alexis Sanchez is loving life as Arsenal s new centre-forward and has made it clear he is happy to play wherever Arsene Wenger needs him.

The Chile international had mainly been featuring out wide since joining Arsenal from Barcelona in 2014, but has deposed Olivier Giroud as the Gunners main man up front this season.

Sanchez needed a bit of research to fully understand his new position, but he is feeling right at home as the focal point of the Arsenal attack.

I like it as a centre forward because I can get involved in the play more, Sanchez told Arsenal s official website.

I have the chance to drop deep a little bit more and that means I can link up with my team-mates more.

[The manager] is the one who decides, he is the one who changes thi…

Tite pleased by ´impressive´ Brazil against Ghana

Brazil head coach Tite has praised the impressive performance of his side regaining possession against Ghana.

The South American side blitzed to a 3-0 win against their African opponents in a friendly in France, Marquinhos opening the scoring inside nine minutes before Richarlison struck a brace before the break.

Victory in Le Havre raises optimism for the five-time World Cup champions before the tournament later this year, with Tite s side excelling in the final third and putting their opponents to the sword.

However, Tite was impressed by the display of his side without possession against Ghana as they quickly responded to win the ball back.

In the first half, the team mobilised to, after losing possession, immediately regain control of the ball, he sa…

Sensi slams Serie A foreigners as ´third choice´

Former Roma president Rosella Sensi has slammed powerhouse Serie A clubs for bringing in foreign talent.

The 42-year-old entrepreneur, who resigned from her role at Roma in March 2011, said she is disappointed in the quality of players purchased from other leagues in Europe.

Sensi included her former club in her outburst, as she claimed all of the imported players in Serie A are third choice .

Milan, Roma, Juventus and Inter have so many foreigners in their squads, she told Il Tempo.

But all those who come to our country are third choice foreigners.

They are coming here just because they are being discarded by teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

If we want to see the new Messi, he s going to be in Spain – where…

Kante had offers to leave Chelsea

N Golo Kante knows Chelsea are counting on him after receiving offers to leave Stamford Bridge over the close season.

Two-time Premier League winner Kante helped Chelsea to the title in 2016-17, having starred in Leciester City s unlikely march to glory in the previous campaign.

The major honours continued to roll in for the holding midfielder as he anchored France on their way to World Cup glory this year, with those performances heightening speculation Paris Saint-Germain were keen to sign the 27-year-old.

But Kante was offered assurances over his importance under new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri, who has deployed him in a roving central role this season to fine effect.

There was no urge to go anywhere else after the World Cup, he told RMC Sport.

Spain enduring World Cup torture, says press

Spain s laboured qualification for the second round of the World Cup as they bid to add that title to their European crown received little praise from the domestic press on Saturday.

El Pais labelled the Spanish squad as looking like they were undergoing torture after watching their three group games a 1-0 defeat by Switzerland, a 2-0 win over Honduras and a 2-1 victory over Chile to finish top of their group but face a tough clash with 2006 semi-finalists Portugal on Tuesday in Cape Town.

Spain obviously likes torture, opined El Pais, who went on to wonder where the dominant Spain of the past two years had disappeared to.

After this third match we have still not seen the Spain, neither of Vienna (where they beat Germany 1-0 for the Euro 2008 title), nor of th…

Castro feels Europa League ´responsibility´

Porto head coach Luis Castro feels a sense of responsibility as he bids to guide the club to UEFA Europa League glory.

Having taken over from Paulo Fonseca in March, Castro is hoping that the Portuguese outfit can triumph in Europe s secondary club competition for the third time in 11 years.

And, as he prepares to face Sevilla in the first leg of his side s quarter-final tie on Thursday, Castro has revealed that he feels a duty to the fans to deliver a strong performance.

Working at FC Porto is an act of responsibility, he said. The Europa League is a prestigious event that FC Porto has won and wants to win again.

It will be an extremely difficult game against a team that has a good streak. We are optimistic and hope to win the first part of this round without co…

Pogba open to Juventus return

Manchester United were defeated by Juventus at Old Trafford on Tuesday, but Paul Pogba had a warm reception from his former teammates, the club and the fans, and according to Turin-based Tuttosport, he remains open to the possibility of returning to the Italian title holders next year.

Pogba arrived to Old Trafford in 2016 for the at the time world-record fee of around €100million, but he has so far failed to live up to the expectations such a transfer imposed. Further more, he is reportedly in the middle of a sharp conflict with manager Jose Mourinho due to the team s underwhelming start to the season, and he s been linked with a move away for a while. Apart from Juventus, Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been mentioned as his potential destinations.

Mason Mount has revealed he was impacted by Declan Rice s Chelsea departure aged 14 amid rumours the West Ham midfielder could return to the club.

Chelsea star Mount is a close friend of Rice, with the duo playing together in the academy at Stamford Bridge.

However, while Rice was released and ending up establishing himself at London rivals West Ham, Mount remains at Chelsea and enjoyed a breakout season in 2019-20.

Blanc upset by ´disrespectful´ Rabiot

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has voiced his dismay with Adrien Rabiot after the midfielder claimed he wants to leave the club on loan in January.

Rabiot started PSG s past seven league games before coming on as a substitute during a 3-0 win at Nice on Friday and has been an important part of the first team at the Parc des Princes this campaign.

However, the 20-year-old does not feel like an undisputed starter at PSG yet and would be open to a temporary move next month.

Blanc is not impressed with the midfielder s remarks and feels his comments are disrespectful toward the club.

Rabiot s comments bother me, Blanc said at a news conference.

He has to understand that you have to respect the club when you still have a contract for five ye…
