Former Roma president Rosella Sensi has slammed powerhouse Serie A clubs for bringing in foreign talent.
The 42-year-old entrepreneur, who resigned from her role at Roma in March 2011, said she is disappointed in the quality of players purchased from other leagues in Europe.
Sensi included her former club in her outburst, as she claimed all of the imported players in Serie A are third choice .
Milan, Roma, Juventus and Inter have so many foreigners in their squads, she told Il Tempo.
But all those who come to our country are third choice foreigners.
They are coming here just because they are being discarded by teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.
If we want to see the new Messi, he s going to be in Spain – whereas the reserve is coming to Italy.
Roma have 17 foreigners in their 29-man squad, while Milan (16), Juventus (11) and Inter (28) also have large contingents of non-Italian players at the club.
