Coaches square up for K-League decider

Ulsan Hyundai coach Kim Ho-Gon knows the challenge that lies ahead of his side in the K-League Championship final against Jeonbuk Motors.

Ulsan meet Motors in the first leg on Wednesday, with the second match to be played in Jeonju on Saturday.

Kim s men finished the regular season in sixth place, and eliminated giants Suwon Bluewings, FC Seoul and Pohang Steelers on their way to the final.

The former South Korea manager told reporters that beating Choi Kang-Hee s side would be a huge task.

Choi Kang-Hee is different. The managers of Seoul, Suwon and Pohang are all young and inexperienced, Kim said of his 52-year-old opponent.

Choi has a lot of know-how. So it will be a difficult match.

We are the underdogs. We have qualified for the finals despite finishing in sixth place during the league. But we have had a good run and are full of confidence.

Choi said the decider would be an opportunity for the 2009 K-League champions losers of the final of the AFC Champions League to Al Sadd in early November to confirm themselves as a South Korean powerhouse.

We are now one of the giants in K-League. This will be the opportunity to cement our club status in the league, Choi said.

We can become a noble club by winning the final. So it is very important to get a proper result.
